What if your clinical instincts — listening deeply, explaining clearly, calming chaos — were actually your greatest non-clinical strength

In this week’s letter, let’s discuss a non-clinical path that is growing faster by the day.

Clinical Customer Success Manager (CCSM) — a fast-growing, under-the-radar role in healthtech that medics are quietly thriving in.

🩺 What is a Clinical Customer Success Manager?

Think of it as patient care — but for digital health products.

You become the bridge between users (clinics, hospitals, or patients) and the product team. You help onboard, train, and support users while offering clinical context that shapes product improvement. You're not just solving problems — you're building relationships and driving outcomes.

💡 Why This Role Makes Sense for Medics?

  • You're already used to translating medical info into real-world guidance.

  • You know what matters to patients and providers — and what frustrates them.

  • You’re trained to listen, troubleshoot, and follow through.

In a world of digital health tools, AI assistants, and telemedicine platforms, companies need people who understand clinical workflows — not just code.

🌍 Real-Life Example

A doctor I follow on LinkedIn transitioned from clinical practice to the health tech industry, focusing on AI-driven solutions.

🚀 Want to Explore This Path?

  1. Learn the Basics Understand: What Customer Success actually is (watch YouTube videos, read guides)

Key tools (like CRMs, help desks, project management tools)

  1. Build Your Story , Tailor your CV to show:

Experience leading patient education or onboarding

Your communication and problem-solving skills

Any tech-savviness (used EMRs, led change in your department, etc.)

  1. Take a Micro-Course (Optional but helpful) Look into:

    Coursera: Customer Success for Beginners

    LinkedIn Learning: Tech Support Fundamentals

  2. Target the Right Companies:

Digital health startups (telemedicine, EHRs, AI, remote monitoring).

FemTech or HealthTech companies hiring Customer Success Managers with clinical backgrounds.

“By doing this you are halfway to launching your career as a CCSM 👍”

🐝 From One Medic to Another...

You don’t need to be a coder to work in tech. Sometimes, the best thing you can bring to a product... is your bedside manner.

Until next week,
